Mercedes-Benz World | Brooklands | AMG Experience

First post of the year so Happy New Year to everyone.

Been a while since we went to Mercedes World, and this trip saw my good friend Tom try his luck at the wheel of a C63 AMG for his 25th birthday. Was a stunning day, and I’m really pleased with this small collection of photos:-

Porthleven, Cornwall

Lovely holiday with Jenny in the small town of Porthleven, in the South of Cornwall, near Helston. We rented this cottage near the local fishermans boating harbour:

Out the door, turn right, and you can see the harbour. One minute walk and you were there….

Paul Scholes Testimonial, Fri 5th August, Old Trafford, Manchester

Was lucky enough to get tickets to Paul Scholes Testimonial match against New York Cosmos, managed on this occassion by United legend Eric Cantona. Seats were great, about 10 rows back at the half way line in North Stand.

Unfortunatley, we missed the first 20 minutes of the match, and therefore Scholes goal, it took us an hour and a half to do the 5 mile journey from our hotel to Old Trafford.

AMG Experience – Mercedes World

Ok,  so today was my birthday and my parents paid for me to spend an hour driving an AMG! I got to drive the insanely fast E63 AMG in white. Thats a 6.3l V8 with 525 horses under the bonnet.

You start off on the ‘baby circuit’ at the end of the main track to get you used to the car, then you are allowed on the main track. The acceleration is quite astonishing, and it handles so well for a large car. We hit the skid pan after a few laps, and that was incredibly frustrating! It looks so easy, and yet its extremely hard to get that balance in power and wheel lock.

When the hour was nearly up, the instructor offered to take me round, and my God……… I was holding onto the seat belt so hard, but still trying to look relaxed!!

Whipsnade Zoo

Went to Whipsnade Zoo, near Dunstable, today, a good opportunity to give my new lense (Canon 70-200 f2.8 II USM) a good run out, or so I thought. A few minutes before we arrived it decided to start raining, so tried to brave it, but then heavens opened and we ended up spending the first 40 minutes sat in a shelter next to the bears (who subsequently weren’t visible to see).  So, we headed back to the gift shop and bought some umbrella’s.

We walked round depserately trying to keep my camera dry as we tried to snap the animals…
